I made a big mistake when, with the best of intentions, I wanted to talk to the manager about a serious issue we have in our store. I don't have a solution, but I thought he might have one.
However, I only got an unpleasant reaction and now I am probably characterized as the one who raises problems.
Obviously, it is best to keep quite about problems because managers don't seem interested in averting a potential crisis?

I’m jealous some store gets burgers on the 4th. I think we got bo-b pops.
Isn’t that a sad thing for a so called Macy’s store leader to say?
They are being paid big dollars to lead, teach, train, communicate and yes solve problems. THAT IS YOUR JOB AS A STORE LEADER!! But yet they hide in their office and sweep it all under the carpet.
That is why Macy’s is in the state that it is. All of this starts at the top with Jeffy.
They don’t know how to lead so they just cover it all up.
Never assume that because someone has a Macys store manager badge, they have employees best interest at heart. They may only have their own best professional interest at heart. As the company has changed, so have the “leaders “of the stores. Often at best they are inexperienced, at worst self inflated. They are just passing thru with little investment in the store or the associates. They are interested in making themselves look great to keep their job or for the next promotion. They think they know more than they do. They think they are a great leader. They think fake cheer and smiles ,donuts at rallies , burgers on the 4th , will cover up the disfunction created by their bad leadership. Good experienced associates are not fooled.
If you identify and call attention to a real problem in your store….despite your sincerity, you are calling out a problem that exists and makes the store manager look bad. If the problem is not identified…it “may “ not exist. Sadly my advice as a very seasoned Macys employee….always consider yourself and the repercussions of speaking up. Unless you truly know the leaders in your store…..often keeping your mouth shut is the best option. Don’t ever assume the leaders of your store have the best of intentions like yourself.
Always go to the store manager first if it’s such a big issue.
If it can be job-threatening to you, document it. Send an email or a memo, do something because it's everyone for themselves at most companies these days.
