Unfortunately for the employees, Union Pacific has you by the tail, hook, line and sinker. They (UP) knows all of you are either finishing up your tenure to retirement or your young and in debt over your eyes with mortgages, toys, family obligations, and need the insurance, etc. etc.
UP and the shareholders don't give a flip about you. They will pitch you an offer, and you take it or leave it and work or quit. Simple as that.

I will believe this when I see it. I don’t think workers are going to resign in droves or even a trickle. Every time the contract is up, the same things are said and never happen. We will take what is given and most will continue working for whatever their reasons are. The company knows this too. If we really had 25-50 percent of the employees submit resignations then maybe they would negotiate honestly and present a fair offer, but they know it’s all talk and not many will leave.
