There are news outlets everywhere right now about Toys “R” Us returning with small shops in Macy’s stores. Am I missing something here but I thought this was already announced and the small “store within a store” already was put out?
So the current toys section is just a starter for the new Toys “R” Us?

When we had toys at Sears it was a mess. The kids would come in and play with the toys while the parents shopped. Then the kids would carry the toys with them and leave them all over the store. Recovery of toys was a major project. Toys did help increase sales but at the expense of labor and time costs
Definitely excited for the shops to roll out to stores! Walked into one location that was setting up their fixtures and it looked really good. The assortment of toys was different than BACKSTAGE and as a whole gave the store some excitement! Good for you Macy's!!!
Backstage toys and Toys R Us toys! Macy's is now in the toys business. It's unbelievable! This company is always full of surprises. What's next? 🤔
Macy's is the new Target, Walmart, JCPenney and even the store that went bankrupt Sears. Look at all this changes going on with this company. Even the dress code has change 👖 too.
Toys! I never thought that Macy's would sell toys. What a big mess especially with the roll out with ISM.
I wondered when this was going to roll out. Interesting if there really is a supply chain holdup. My store is drowning in toys that a. get looked at more than they are bought and b. get merchandised feels like once a month.......and that was before ism. Anyone sent there spends more time cleaning up than anything else and if its supposed to expand more (sq footage) we're at limit already. lol
So what is Toys R Us going to offer that it did not offer before it went bankrupt? If they were not making $ before, how is being in Macy going to change that? Probably people will come out there in the beginning out of curiosity but then shopping/traffic will taper off and people will just continue to purchase online. Is Macy trying to be the new Target or Walmart - only more expensive?
Well, if you didn't notice at the end of 2021, Macy's actually put out collateral stating TOYS R US Coming in 2022 (ppsters, bella signage etc...) . Originally the shops were to launch in Spring 22 but due to the supply chain hold up, it got postponed. Now they are finally rolling out fixtures, graphic packages, painted walls to all stores with a completion date of mid October. It's both Macy's and TOYS R US to blame for the lagging roll out, but from what I've seen, it looks pretty good!!!
