Top management needs to standardize summer hours across the entire company

Since around 2017 my department has been requiring employees "make up" summer hours by either coming in late or showing up early on other days of the week. I assume this is because our work must be billed to projects/departments and taking off early would require billing that time out to our department budget. Leaving is also frowned upon if someone has set a meeting during that time. I'm sure other departments have similar experiences of abuse.

I wish SG would force summer hours across the entire company (rather than leaving it up to departments) now that COVID is easing up and most uncertainty surrounding the divestiture has let up. This is an easy perk that has been proven to improve productivity (see here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2019/11/04/overworked-japan-microsoft-tested-four-day-workweek-productivity-soared-percent/) as well as morale.

Take summer hours anyway. You're paid by the year, not the hour.

What makes me mad is VPs and executives leave early on Fridays and allow favorite to do the same while us works must stay the full work day. Such unbalance!!
