Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Coworkers watching others work

It's amazing what people are capable of doing just to get some attention and affection from the manager. We have a coworker who kind of "supervises" how others work and then reports it to the manager. And of course, he is becoming his favorite, without the manager even asking himself - how much time does this person waste watching what others are doing, instead of doing his own work...

I watch our slick ASMs "work" the young female cashiers. Most of them are too scared to retaliate. HR has been notified and nothing happens. This is what Lowes corporate wants. Good ole boy system ran like the old west.

This company is run the blunt instruments from Home Depot. Their culture is poison. The great people at the old corporate are gone. This group? They could care less about you, your opinion. They don’t want to hear from you “peasants”.

Sounds like he needs a "five-finger convincing" after work in the parking lot to stop being a snitch. Preferably outside of camera view lol. That sort of attitude wouldn't fly 15-20yrs ago.

Sometimes this kind of thing can border on “Workplace Harassment.” If it isn’t their job to supervise you, then it isn’t their job to supervise you. Period. Ignore them.

Agree with last poster. You have the scam the scammer. My bet he's never stepped foot on power equipment, just "spots" and chills. Lowes seems to hire these types alot. They always disappear to the bathroom or breakroom when a big task comes.

Tell the "supervisor" to stop. Do it nicely. But know that he won't.
Chances are, your manager has worked hard in his life and assumes others do, too. Make the manager aware that there is an opportunist on his team. Here's how:
If you can, do something that your "supervising" coworker can't do or doesn't know how to do, and let him take the credit. Then, at the right time, spring the trap on him. Tell him to explain/ demonstrate to the manager. Preferably in front of the entire team.
You have to deal with these people in this type of manner because they will never stop otherwise. You'll be nervous doing this, but do it anyway. It's only a job when all is said and done.
Best of luck.
