I'm trying to think of which company could have acquired VMW that would make things worse than acquisition by AVGO? I can't think of any. Did the worst case scenario happen?

there is no way sumit will be kept on or raghu, they cannot execute, only trusted AVGO or shareholder selections would have a chance
Sumit is a disaster! First he built up the grossly unsuccessful and ineffective Customer Success team. Now he took his legacy of panic and poor decisions to the rest of VMware. Sumit proves that one rises to his/her level of incompetence. His bu-t will be gone after the BC acquisition. BC may keep Raghu, Zane & a few BU team including their SVPs.
There is no other buyer who will pay $61 billion for VMware today. The business was tanking. Q1 was the worst quarter in years. The stock price was going down all last year from $160 to $100. Hock Tan should be thanked. He did a diving save, for a management team that couldn't execute.
Real question and not being negative or sarcastic. Do you believe that Sumit will be retained to replace Tom in the role that Hock said is being eliminated? Or that Sumit would report to Hock as head of engineering or something, If Sumit stays on with the buyer, he doesn’t get his change of control $$$, which makes we truly wonder if he would. I for one hope he does and I am kept.
I know all you negative nellies don’t want to hear it, but with Tom Krause making way for Sumit, this deal (if it happens - and I still think it’s a big if) isn’t going to involve much change for VMWARE folks at all.
I think Intel, HP and IBM would actually be better! But you got me with Tata and Wipro - and add HCL to that list too, where our Professional Services people will most likely be going. They get the worst of the entire situation. Screwed twice!
Michael Dell doesn’t see it that way
There are plenty of others.
Intel.
HP.
Tata.
Wipro.
Telsa.
IBM.
Any (other) venture capital.
For the majority of employees, AVGO is the WORST possible solution. There truly is no one worse. The joke years ago was CA was the WORST company to be acquired by, and then when AVGO acquired CA, everyone was like "wow, they now got it". But even CA at its worst didn't cut the way AVGO will cut.
