Mainly because I want to get back to business as usual - or move on if that happens to be the case. Currently, I feel like I'm stuck in limbo and I've been feeling like that since the acquisition was announced. It's hard to concentrate when I'm unsure of the future. I just need it to be done, one way or another, so we can all move on.

Believe what people tell you about Broadcom. If the only thing positive people can say is “the equity is great”, while clearly important, I also need an environment that is somewhat positive and productive. While some people may be OK with money only, I’m not. If I were 63 years old, I would stick it out if offered a job. It is not like working there is working in a sweat shop, but at this stage in my life, I would never apply for a job at Broadcom if I was on the market. And I won’t be staying.
We will never go back to business as usual, business as usual at Broadcom will be a very different business than what we have today. There is greater risk at Broadcom than VMWare for sure, but there was always risk at VMWare too.
At Broadcom you are figuratively and literally just a number. The current employees worry about being laid off constantly. It is not a positive environment but to call it toxic may also be a stretch.
No one that leaves will ever say “I wish I stayed at Broadcom” and if they do it is solely based on $$. I know so many people there that plan on leaving the moment they can financially do so. Say what you want about VMWare, but this place will be a perfect utopia compared to what life is like there.
It will never be business as usual at Broadcom.
How do you know you're guaranteed to keep your job after the acquisition is over?
But you dont have to be unsure, that’s your choice. You dont have to stay. What’s your feeling about your current role? If you like it, then assess the risk level associated with rolling the dice on broadcom. If you love it a lot, it might be worth it. If you dont gave have a strong feeling or a bad one, then why not start shopping around? Keep in mind that according to some economical trends we may be heading into a recession at the time the deal closes. Whatever decision you make will be risky. I left, I decided I didnt liek my job enough to the take risk, make your own call
