Thread regarding Tesla, Inc layoffs

Looking to work at Tesla?

Don't bother. This is not the same company it was a year ago. There are growing expectations to do more with less and for less. The culture has turned from positive and hopeful to completely toxic. There are very few positives I can think of about working here right now.

Keep in mind that the people tesla hires are the same ones that were top achievers growing up. That comes with a certain pedigree expectation, and there's no shame at all if it causes burn out and it's not the environment for you.

Tesla isn't like working a normal company, you shouldn't want to throttle its success or those that actually want to "live to work" because they believe in the mission so strongly.

No shame at all if its not for you. It's a tier 1 tech company, for some the expectations are back breaking, for others it's finally a chance for some challenge that can keep up in life.

Do you guys have to work the weekends just because you're a salary employee and not get over-time pay? And the raises and bonuses are low? or one year they give you the salary increase and the next year they don't. Also, they don't replace the employees that have left the company or distribute their income to the rest of the group during merit increases. Do you work from 7 AM due to international meetings until 12 midnight trying to fix a bug in the code (especially FPGA or ASIC/SOC/DSP code)? Does management not understand the details of the work involved to find the exact cause of the issue and how to solve it. Looking for some extra clock cycles in the FPGA to figure out where to add the extra code. It's pretty much the same everywhere after a while. Engineering jobs are no longer as fun as they use to be in the 90's. Now it's all about Agile/Scrum/Jira sprints and change requests. It's all B.S. and doesn't get any better. Management doesn't understand what engineers go through. We work for low salary, give up our weekday nights and weekend time. We report status multiple times a week to multiple people. We are overloaded with work cause company want to save money and pay executives big bonuses while we don't even get a reasonable salary increase. We as engineers in all different companies have to learn to say NO. No, I won't give up my weekend. They need to hire more people if they are asking you to work weekends. They can't fire you for saying NO to weekend work since all companies promote work/life balance. JUST SAY NOOOOO!!! BUT THEN I HOPE THEY DON'T OFFSHORE THE JOBS. YOU CAN'T WIN. We are the slaves.
