I understand that the common understanding is that all decisions at Broadcom are Hock Tan’s decision so my question is, what are the odds that the acquisition playbook followed with CA and Symantec was a Krause playbook and that things will be different with VMware? Both acquisitions occured during Krause’s tenure

Imagine weighing in on this situation with any credibility and you can’t even spell the names of the C suite execs running the show.
Just to be clear, Charlie Kawwas presided over the CA and Symantec acquisitions. Tom was still just in finance then. Ths would have been the first one run by TK and now it's being run by Hock.
@ner+1hFiSd47 You are right. Tom “tried” to make positive changes. He is the only one that will speak truth to power, so not surprised he is walking away from Broadcom to go to a place where he can actually make decisions. While him leaving won’t really make things worse, as Hock is going to do what he is going to do, there is now no one that will “attempt” to make changes for the positive.
I have the feeling it will be worst. From the meeting VMware did together with Broadcom (Raghu, Hock, Crause), I had the impression that Crause was the most understanding and flexible person. Especially on the question on the WFH and other related questions he said that it was possible to change, that they learn from others ecc... while Hock had always the expression like "this is not good, this is not good....I will fire you all.... I will cut expenses... "
Everything in the news about this can someone, someway, be translated directly into 5000 mg of extra strength copium XR.
This news changes nothing and again, as others have pointed out, this assumes that you think Hock Tan is not a boss with control issues. Do your research please before posting this stuff and giving unreliable hope to so many people who don't know better.
Pleas keep posting this stuff. We love it. The thought of Hock doing things because Tom directed him to is so funny my stomach hurts from laughing so much.
This is an example of wishful thinking that I am seeing all around the organization.
Silver Lake PE firm invented the playbook, created Broadcom, and installed Hock as CEO. No need for the Socratic method here, this is pure slash and burn.

It was actually Tom that was focused on making money and not shock.
Now that Tom is gone,
Hock can do everything he always wanted to do since his direct report prevented him from doing so.
How VMWare operated as a company is beyond me with so many id--ts.
