It would be a big help to have volunteers from Omaha hq glass tower get some cross job knowledge of other jobs that people do on the rr. Go down to the rr yard and watch them switch cars , couple air hoses, replace brake shoes , service the locomotives , fix a power switch , weld a jo--t on the rails, fix a broken crossing gate, tamp ballast rock , etc,,,,.

C’mon down and start driving spikes then good sir. If you are so smart then figure out how to get us some more boots on the ground. We’re all tired, thanks.
You guys in the field ki-l me. You think highly educated people in HQ couldn't figure out how to throw a switch or drive a spike? I've heard you guys on the radio and most aren't exactly speaking the kings english. This management vs the hard working people that keep the trains moving is a bunch of BS. Everyone has a role to play to make the entire system run.
Management at the UP is the worst people u can have they don’t know nothing
This program exists all ready
I hear you, but are you suggesting that you will learn jobs at HQ if you're given the opportunity? That's cross training, too.
They only focus on the stock price and dividends.
Feetum and Siebert and Brazil getting ready to run trains soon at W.Colton?
Just another hypothetical, stupid posting. Is this the only kind of nonsense you can think to post? So your big problem is nobody is volunteering to watch you work? Crazy.
I get what you are stating but after 20yrs I am unsure if anyone from HQ cares to know truthfully “what it takes” to be effective and productive in the field. Ive seen too many managers figure out a way to lie on paper or find a loophole and get rewarded / promoted for their numbers manipulations. If you have just one person be an obsequious yes man, versus everyone else who states more $ or time is needed to accomplish a goal, that yes person is gonna get ahead. Even when (99% of the time) the money savings idea / person ultimately ends up being a failure bcuz UP overall spends dollars to save those few dimes. Do those at the top focus more on delivering freight? Or do they focus on the stock price and dividends?
Those Mo--ns in Omaha couldn't do our jobs. They are suits.
Nah bro , we dont need no volunteers (guys with skinny jeans and hair buns) watching us work out here in the field. And they can keep there manager in training in omaha.
Why would this be a big help? Just having someone watch others work seems a big waste of time for all involved. I personally don’t want people watching me work, especially those that won’t be doing my job permanently.
It called operation rail relief, unless you're talking about the ones from above the 10th floor. Have you considered reaching out?
