Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Where is the transparency that we’ve been promised?

Go-shop has ended. Where is the communications from our leadership? How’ many times have they used the word “transparency” in various calls? So now we see that it’s all lies. They will keep us in the dark and tell us only what they have to tell us and wait until the last minute to do so.

OK that lottery comment was actually pretty funny.

I don't disagree with you, but seriously, if any offer came in, it would be legally disclosed to the public. No disclosure was ever made. So, the CEO is going to send a letter telling us what we already know? It would be a nice touch, but I come from the school of no need for you to tell me something I already know. No one views this as a milestone. No different than the California Lottery sending a note to every player after the draw saying, "you didn't win", like "thanks, I figured that out when I checked the numbers".

If I was the CEO of a international company with close to 40,000 people around the world and there was a deadline that has passed that would potentially impact a lot of my employees, I’d be sure to drop an email. Even something like “go-shop has ended, we are now continuing on the next steps of the Broadcom acquisition. We will release more information over the coming months as the acquisition continues. For now, it’s ‘business as usual’”. There are people in parts of the world that will be in bed asleep by the time he gets out of bed for his morning run and have been waiting hours for some kind of message.

I don’t disagree with the comments below, and we’ll see if a communication is sent out today (Weds, the 6th), but the general lack of communication speaks to the absolute void of leadership from the current “leadership” team. In a word, it’s awful, and a disservice to all of the concerned employees.

Also at the time you posted, it was almost but not quite 5 hours after the go-shop technically ended. Did you expect an email from the CEO at midnight? The transparency does remain to be seen, but up until now there wasn't really anything that anyone was allowed legally to say. Even after now, that will be very limited.

There is nothing to communicate. The go shop period is language in a merger agreement. It’s in every agreement to acquire a company. No one was ever coming forward to offer more money. If you want to get technical, someone can still come forward even after the go shop period expires and offer more, but it simply is not going to happen.
