Thread regarding VMware layoffs

It's hard to stay motivated

Knowing what's coming, especially now that the 'go shop' period is coming to an end and the sale to Broadcom is all but guaranteed, I find it hard to stay motivated. I'm not an engineer so my chances of not being laid off are slim. Knowing that, it's hard to put much effort into anything I'm doing. There's no point if all I'm doing is biding my time before I'm let go. I'd be surprised if a lot of people don't feel the same way.

At this point I need to take care of me and my family.

Feel the same. I tell myself I'm still going to work hard for my clients. At this point I don't care about VMW or BC, but I do care about the clients and the outcomes I can help them achieve.

I feel the same way. I have already started looking, especially since I started at VMWare in 2022, so my severance will not be worth sticking around for.
