Sales org layoffs?

Newer hire who joined on just prior to to the announcement of the merger. I know the word on here is deep layoffs, but any cues on what that looks like for the sales org? I don’t see how they could can the sales engine that drives revenue for the business to be honest, but I know very little about what’s really gonna happen here.

"Cutting 60-75 of it won’t be impossible" this is quite accurate. There will be a reorg of the customer base. Core customers will get a dedicated sales team, non core will be handled remotely and via channel network. Maybe 25% of customers will make it to core. This is how they are able to reduce even sales significantly. They do not care much about customers who don't generate a certain amount of revenue. Sad but true.

VMware sales organization is:
A. Incredibly specialist heavy (field reps and field SE’s plus management).
B. Has significant non-global 1500 (or 600 depending on which article) sales team with said specialists both field and inside teams in small enterprise and commercial.

Cutting 60-75 of it won’t be impossible.

Don’t let this acquisition ruin your experience going into sales. Spent many years in technical operations roles, sales is great if you find the right company

I just got hired for sales in May. I regret ever going into sales. I don't know what possessed me into doing so. I also regret joining VMware

Get your resume going and good luck out there! There's more to life than working for big tech. Don't trust what your manager says.

Many of the Sales Engineers that are brought over to Broadcom are transitioned out of a sales role and put into a non commission technical role supporting the customers as part of the BU.

Some Sales Engineers will be transitioned over to Architects or CTO’s on the sales team. Some will be let go. AVGO values engineers very highly, doesn’t mean they don’t do cuts in that area, but they do value engineers. Make no mistake though, there will be cuts there too
