Rumors buzzing in sales

Rumor has it that Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has been recommending big changes to the sales org. Changes were supposed to happen with new fiscal but have been pushed out until the start of Q2 leaving all the sales people hanging. The rumors are that there will be major changes but we don't know what. Has anyone heard?

I have heard that field sales will be all hunters, inside sales will only work with clients and that service will handle all non roll call issues that sales is always asked to do... We shall see.

Sales does not get the training they need especially Inside Sales. They are thrown into a role and quota right away and are trying to sell the best they can. When clients have questions there is no where to go. You can ask one question to 10 different people and get 10 different answers. They are told to go to ADP Works (AKA Blackhole) or post the question on Chatter (average response - 7 days). The leaders are worthless, all they do count the dollars in their paycheck. Moving more prospecting to the field means inside sales then has more client issues to deal with and NO support. Inside Sales is an extension of customer service basically. They are not selling they are dealing with client issues all day because the clients have no place to go either. Sales does paperwork all day for $0.00 clients orders that are not not making the company any money but yet a sales order is required and sales order has to be done. This should stop now and hopefully BCG realizes this. Although sales has been telling ADP this for years but it takes a consulting group that cost major bucks to tell them that. It is not rocket science.

For years there has been an effort to shift the “harder” sales jobs to field sales and limit inside sales to the far easier tasks. This is why you see inbound leads and client upsell all within inside sales first. If the company is going to pay “more” in the field comp plans and salaries, they are going to insure they are getting their moneys worth. So yes- I would not be at all surprised to see the field limited to prospecting only- with the softer landing roles all within the walls of inside.

Comment to sales, how do you service something that’s constantly broken? I work in the service end /wfn is a constant hot mess of errors, slowness, defects etc. try servicing that when there’s little or no support. AM role is a joke, we are now a call center with glorified titles and a dumping ground for everything no one knows what to to do with. Feedback to managers does no good because upper management doesn’t want to admit major mistakes were made tryin dump all the work on account managers that the AM model isn’t working like they thought. It still takes years to learn Service job, not three months.

Assuming vldn+1hANsZKg is OP

Im the 1st responder. Im still curious to know what specifically sales is currently being asked to do that is nonrollcall as your original post states.

I think there are problems in the imp and serv side of thibgs in wfmgr, I assume thats the product you are referring to since you brought up PTO, but I am completely unaware of sales doing anything nonrollcall related.

In my experience implementation and service are under delivering. No one left knows how to help clients. Example, clients have issues with their PTO policy set up ...no one can help or willing to so clients have to call us in sales. So before you say we just sell the moon to clients, know even the most basic functions of the system can't get set up correctly or fixed.

Sounds like Boston Consulting Group is trying to trim and cut this company so much from the original 50K employees down to like 5K employees. Geesh. Good luck to anyone left. I can't imagine how much worse the workload will become!

Sales has been horrible to work with for years and things will only get worse. The lying, rudeness, disloyalty, lack of ethics and general stupidity of the Salesforce will continue.

When I grow up, I'm going start my own BCG. What a racket! Those folks make millions from ADP... and for what value?

Havent heard this, but I am very curious what you mean by, service will take care of nonroll call issues that sales is asked to do.

In my exp sales promises the moon and tells implementation and service to make good on their impossible promises to the client. They never stick around to resolve anything once their cheque clears.
