Thread regarding VMware layoffs

I wish this was a bad dream

Relatively enough time has passed and only now, after the initial shock due to the acquisition announcement, I fell very sad and disappointed. Who could have thought that it would come to this? If someone had told me that Broadcom would one day acquire VMware, I wouldn't have believed it.

I think anybody paying attention the last 18 months could see where this was going. The extraction of massive amounts of cash as a payment to be allowed to become independent, the departure of key leaders, the inability to attract outside talent for key exec roles... the inability to create any meaningful change to the engineering culture inside... this really wasn't a surprise at all, was it?

We’ve all been there and agree with you. I will say though, if you speak to any of the people that were acquired in the last several years, many say they felt the acquisition was the worst thing that happened (exactly what you are saying above) at the time, but are so much happier doing whatever they are doing now. We all look forward to better times ahead.
