Go find your next role.. that’s one thing you can control in this scheme. Time to go. There’s a place in the market for folks of all ages and disabilities. Focus your energies on finding what’s next and best. Good luck!

Not to get all legal on you here. But when you fire such a large percentage of people, they don’t really do analysis like what you are referring to.

The reason being; if you are firing so many people, you are not really focused on those things. For example, HR and Marketing departments usually have more women, if you are cutting 95% of them, it is hard to do an analysis.

Firing list are analyzed to make sure there is no apparent bias in the demographics (age, s-x, race, etc.). That doesn’t mean older people are safe, just that the stats line up with the demographic make-up.

Absolutely not. When you fire so many people, you can’t focus on age or gender. At CA, we had an IT group that had 150 people in it; they fired 149, the person retained was in his 50’s. People laid off were anywhere between 24 and late 60’s.

I'm 52 and I'd lie if I said I wasn't stressing over it.
