Thread regarding Kyndryl layoffs

New to Kyndryl, have a question from old IBM'ers/Kyndryl

I worked at another company for 5 years until they got rid of the IT staff and moved us over to IBM in 2020. Then 2021 we were moved to Kyndryl. In these 2 years nothing changed. My job stayed the same at company X until a few weeks ago Kyndryl decided they no longer wanted U.S. workers on that contract for whatever reason. They also removed people from Germany and other countries as well. So now, I'm on 'the bench.' How long will IBM/Kyndryl pay me to be on the bench until I or they find me a new role? It's been like 5 weeks now being paid to do nothing. I am doing some online cloud training. I am applying to internal jobs but zero bites. A bunch were just opened to give to contractors going perm.

I am just curious if anyone has gone through this at IBM or knows of someone on how long they will pay to be on the bench until they are forced to give me my 7yr severance package?

Financials are quarterly based. We're in the middle of Q1 so I'd anticipate they'll want to close out by end of March. Either folks are gone or RA'd and costs charged against Q1.

So I think those of us at Kyndryl and IBM (in particular the "re-deployed") will be"OK" enough through March.

Note that could be laid by February end or March end.

IBM likes to "exits" on last day of the month. So I think if nothing happens by this weekend then it'll be end of March.

It's me again, the OP. It's Aug 23 and I am still on the bench getting paid. I have been looking internally and applying to stuff in GOM, but no response. At this point, I have applied to outside external companies. I just had my last and final interview a few days ago. I think I did well and I hope I get the call. I will not quit kyndryl. I will leave to the new company If I am lucky enough and collect two paychecks. My goal is to do a Milton from Office Space and let them forget about me and continue to pay me until they realize the mistake and lay me off with a fat severance months later. How many of you would do this?

I agree that Kyndryl is just a rehash of IBM culture and values, read this to mean that IBM/Kyndryl seems to think that employees are a necessary evil, not any sort of asset. How could Kyndryl be any different? All of the many layers of management are IBMers from way back. And why couldn't Martin and company think of a name that has vowels and people can pronounce and spell?

Thankfully, my husband got out earlier this year and never looked back! He's happier than ever not dealing with the IBM culture of RA's. Worst.Place.Ever.

OK, but does anyone know how long they are willing to pay until I get my severance package? Anyone know of an estimate in weeks/months? I've been looking already as well on the outside. I was curious if they had a certain rule in place.

Don’t worry next steps will be getting lay-off, this is old IBM processes and procedures!

KD is in fine shape. Nothing to worry about. Just look at the stock price scream higher as Wall St. is finding it, too.

On a serious note, be happy to get out of the mess. Nearly anywhere you go will be a step up. KD is a rapidly deteriorating dinosaur that is already dead, but doesn't fully know it yet.

Kyndryl is hiring so I am not sure what the problem is.
They just sent us several links with job openings to share.
Maybe reach out to the hiring managers on slack to discuss.
