After 24 years at Siemens they announced a RIF for IT staff. This is because they are becoming a software company. Most operational IT had been off shored in the past 4 years. In scope we're all of the manager's service owners account management staff and customer facing rolls along with and user support. A 176 people globally in scope 5% of which were offered management rolls bird management rolls with atos. The rest were offered nothing but a transfer to a toast at "quivalent compensation. This caused over 80 staff members to resign from the company within the 1st 3 months. Of the remaining 70 plus staff in the US were offered small severance packages if they did not want to go to atos. Fewer than 30 went to atos. Average tenure of those in scope of the riff in the US was 16 years. There is another round of reduction due prior to the close of the calendar year.

Very volatile and scary times. Hopefully Siemens does good by all of us hard working employees. Especially the long tenured veterans. God bless

The numbers won't be coming in like they used to under these economic conditions. Means recession and layoffs are coming very soon.

The US Branch offices operate like franchises to the mothership in Europe. It's very hard for Home Office to see what is going on in each branch office. They very well could be full of inexperienced and inadequate managers. But as long as the numbers come in month to month and year to year nobody in home office cares what goes on in the branches. It's all a numbers game and that's it!

What happened to our company? It used to be a great environment and culture to work in. The constant outsourcing, financial greed and overall dysfunction has send everyone pitting against each other destroying our culture. We used to be very proud to say we worked at Siemens. Now it' just another company name.

I hope they offer an incentive package. I have worked here for 11 years and have 3 young kids at home. Hopefully they do the right thing.

Way to many managers without any real business experience. Flows down to branch level and destroys company reputation.
