Thread regarding VMware layoffs

I wanted to leave even before the acquisition was announced

It is interesting how some are now trying to present VMware as a company that was wonderful to work at. Yes, it was better than some other companies, but it was far from ideal.
I think there are a lot of those who wanted to leave even before they found out that the company would be acquired?

Just because people don't like their job, a lot of people gotten comfortable and get away with doing fu-k all and get paid in the process and now they are panicking that they actually have to look for something (and not in their own time potentially).

Also the issue is that we are looking potentially at a LOT of redundancies and people don't want having to compete for jobs.

Another issue is that Hock said that they are 'fair' so want to give Broadcom staff the same opportunities so it wouldn't surprise me if we end up having to apply for our own job and potentially competing with both VMware and Broadcom staff.

I left before the announcement and don't regret it one bit. Over time the company I once loved evolved into a place of mediocrity. For those still there, it's either wait for something to happen or make something happen. Given BRCM's history I'd choose the latter.
