Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Looking at the ISM schedule and everything is crazy. People who are full time only schedule 24 hours, part time people scheduled when they can't work, store has 20% less hours than normal, nobody is happy and several people are already looking elsewhere.

Even if you become unionized it will take a lot longer to become unionized than it will be for Macys to install ISM. Unionization is a process that takes time. It doesn't happen overnight. ISM will be well entrenched in the stores before you unionize. You need to start the process immediately by talking to people and getting the cards signed. Go for it!

Sign me up! Macy’s should have picket signs walking in front of their doors. Would serve them right.

I work in an union store and we are not doing ISM. No talk of it and we are doing everything like we always do. Also, I saw a lot of people didn’t get Memorial Day pay in other stores. We got everything the time and half. Union is much better. I worked in an nonunion store also and they can’t do whatever they want to you like they can in nonunion stores. They can’t fire you cuz they don’t like you or get AP to get you. Being unionized is much, much better.

The union would protect your rights.
Our two seamstresses are in the garment union and they do not move from their little room in mens clothing. When they have nothing to do they play on their phones. Nobody says a word to them. The floor could be a mess and need to be recovered but they are never asked to do anything. But then again our store leader is useless and allows his favorite people to do nothing.

I just saw a picture of the Starbucks that went union in Texas, the employees looked to happy and relieved.
