Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Uncertainty is the worst

I've been terribly anxious ever since rumors about layoffs started circulating. I know there is no point in worrying ahead of time, but the atmosphere is very tense. I don’t have enough concentration to work. I mean how do you stay productive in this uncertainty? I think a drop in productivity is inevitable.

What positions at Optum experience re-occurring layoffs?

I hit a point where I no longer gave a damn and just decided I'd find something new. I focused my energy on this and did as little as possible for Optum and in two months I had a much better new job. Anyone can do this!

I use to worry also but This company lays off constantly. So i just stopped worrying about it and just work. They collect data and feed that to human capita and they look at the numbers and they tell who should be laid off.

Been there before, I drove myself crazy overthinking until i realized what I was doing and took action. Agree with other posters. Rather than sit and worry about being laid off, focus on what you can control. You can do an assessment of your current skills and career goals. If you can't focus on your work, focus on some training to improve your skills! Check out the job market. Turn your linkedin profile to looking for work. If you dont have a profile, create one. Take some photos for your headshot. Update your resume, buikd out your work profile and check out internal posting. Raise your hand. Network on yammer. Clean up your files and save off anything you might need that isn't company owned. Organize your email. Figure out your finances to make sure your able to pay your 4 walls if your laid off. Plan B is essential in eliminating the anxiety. Keep busy so your mind can't be filled with the what ifs.
