The deal includes a go-shop provision which means that VMware has anywhere between 30 and 60 days to solicit other bids. While that is happening, the deal will not move forward. Basically, it's business as usual until the go-shop period expires. Only then will the things start to get interesting.

Seeing how before the announcement they went to Finance and said "no new hires, no new packages to go to candidates" and as it was explained to me, they made a list of "must fill" spots that were the last packages that could go out.
No, it is not, business as usual. Actually. It tells you something. We hired and staffed way more than we needed to. That we can run the business without these new hires speaks to us being heavy with extra people weight.
There is no “business as usual”. That is garbage and insulting to all of the employees. Look out for yourself first. The reality is that at this stage of the game whether or not u choose to ride it out, u r on ur own.
I don't know if you read a second letter from Broadcom to VMware employees, signed by Tan and Krause, published on June 2, where they state: "In fact, we already held our first integration meeting with the VMware management team, and over the coming weeks and months, we will be working closely together to ensure we can hit the ground running once the transaction is completed."
So, forget about this 'business as usual'. This is moving and it's moving fast. Personnel actions and decisions will occur much before the close. Be ready for a bizarre couple of months.
think about this as a 6 month layoff notice.
Now putting it in perspective, while it massively sucks to be laid off, it's better than being laid off with 2 weeks notice which happens to a lot of folks.
Re the comment on travel being cut, is that for real? Has there been anything communicated on that?
All travels have abruptly cut. It's not business as usual
I was hired back in April and my first week of work was during the acquisition. Sucks. Im sending out resumes. I don't believe the "you'll be okay" messages we are being spoon-fed, I would be naive too. Feel for all of you who have been here for years.
In the eyes of Broadcom, this deal is done. No one will pay above the Broadcom offer, and if they pay more, the new buyer will have to cut even deeper than what Broadcom is planning. It is not what I want, but reality has set in. Broadcom will own VMWare and the company will be decimated.
yes - updating resume
Yes…”business as usual”…as everyone is scrambling to update resumes while checking out…🙄
