Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Huge cuts are unavoidable

VMware management is going to say whatever they need to say to try and keep employees calm and not bolt for the door. Execs will make millions in change in control. The most important question is this: Broadcom has said they want to take VMware from 30% margins ($3.5b EBITDA) to 60% margins ($8.5b EBITDA) in 3yrs. How do you get to those goals without laying off half of VMware? Unlikely Broadcom can double VMware revenue, because Q1 performance of only 3% growth was way below expectations.

I don't know if you read a second letter from Broadcom to VMware employees, signed by Tan and Krause, published on June 2, where they state: "In fact, we already held our first integration meeting with the VMware management team, and over the coming weeks and months, we will be working closely together to ensure we can hit the ground running once the transaction is completed."

VMware management already sold their soul to the devil and they are not being shy about it. As a current VMware employee, I had liked to hear of this meeting and plans of upcoming work directly from VMware management, and not from the new owners.

Stop blaming the executives. The executives were more or less powerless to prevent this from happening. It was all about two people. And those two people determined the fate of the entire company. They made their power plays. An now we are in the situation we are in. Fretting over this and trying to figure out what's going to happen I think is not going to really solve anything. We all know it's going to happen. And as awful as the reality is, all of us are going to have to make some decisions when it comes to what we're going to do next and our professional careers.

Forget VMW, we know the executives have sold out the ethos of the company in exchange to fatten their own pockets.

Take it easy, focus on what is best for you and your family... don't make VMW a priority anymore because you clearly are not a priority to them.

Accept, move on and be optimistic that you are going to write the next great chapter of your life.
