Discrimination Runs Rampant

This good'ol boy network is due for a lawsuit. I've read prior complaints with DOL of age, race and military discrimination and now to actually experience it puts it all in perspective. They don't invest in their employees and it's definitely not worth your time to work here. No ethics.

Why does Optum continue to hire managers who can't do their job AND discriminate. He's been laid off before and was able to weasel his way back.... What type of lawsuit is it going to take before UHG wakes up???

To the person who continually berates American workers.. the slackers aren’t the Americans. We do it right the first time. They hire off shore because there is a facade that they are cheaper. Reality is they are not since they have to continuously redo the same work over and over because they aren’t experienced enough to get it right. The true cesspool are the workers in other countries. They get lower wages and verbally berated by their own race managers. They try this on Americans too generally though we push back. Bullying is against corporate policy.

I do the bare minimum but i also finish my work. I dont ask for special projects or assist with anything. I stay in my lane. My boss never messages me and i doubt they even know im at work half the time.

OMG, this site has become a cronic complainers support group.

I have seen more than a few comments on other threads saying "do the bare minimum"..
Why? What is the goal with that? Who are you punishing?
Are you trying to get fired for productivity issues? I know on my team, you would not last long pulling that kind of cr-p, no one would want to work with you and my boss would certainly turn their focus on you on the daily. I think its an immature suggestion. You must be young and not realize you have choices in life? You do realize this is a layoff site and people are not usually trying to get fired.
Its just a fing job. Which if you pay any attention to this site, is definitely not permanent.
Work is a means to an end. i have had some bosses who sucked. Guess what i did, I quit and got a new job. I have had coworkers who didnt do sh-t or where absolute aholes. They got fired for being worthless (which is probably what will happen to anyone who takes your advice) or again, i quit and got a new job because my teammates sucked and I am a high producer.

What we need is less people who stay in jobs that they are unhappy in. Not every job you have will be a good fit. When someone takes their work life personally, don't have the maturity to process or possibly except any responsibility for their own happiness and they experience disappointment, they become toxic.

My suggestion is, if you dislike the company, your team or boss enough to come complain about them on this forum, which is supposed to be about layoffs not a place to complain and dear diary about life in corporate america, GET A NEW JOB SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!
Then come on this site and tell people who got laid off where you got hired so maybe they can get a new job too!

It's best to just clock in, due the bare minimum and put your teams on "do not disturb" or "busy"..... it's pretty bad when one co-worker is on twiche, one talks about drinking wine all day, one complains and yells at everyone, and the other is the Mole (who likes to stir up sh!t)... Total Circle J3rk! The boss is clueless.... I really wish Sir Witty could listen in on our meeting just once!!! Unprofessional, rude and back in high school. Just keep documenting and save emails.... Not sure why someone would think that discrimination suits would or are losing against the company. Discrimination is much easier to prove then most people realize. Just need a good experienced employment attorney. Either the company settles out of court and signs a release of no fault on their part or the person who posted that is with HR. They have a slush fund that covers lawsuits. You just have to be patient enough to wait them out.

Most management has a track record of being let go (laid off) and then found a friend to give them a job but they don't have the talent to actually hold the position so it's just a matter of time when the smoke clears.... HINT, they gut the middle layer first.. Directors, Associate Directors, Grade 29, 28 who pretend to perform... bye bye!

Age discrimination is very prevalent. If your over 50 your days are numbered. Even if you’re a top performer. Worked in an OptumRx department where this happened. Everything fell apart because the oldest was let go and no one else could do her job. 3 people put on her work load and still failure. Ended with a reorg with the SVP, Senior Director and Director had to me moved elsewhere because of absolute failure. UHG was having a fit because this team couldn’t keep up with the demand.

Can’t help but wonder about the most recent layoff notifications. My team has a 45% affected rate in this layoff and all but 1 person is over age 40.

Definitely disrespectful! I have a team that runs all over each other! The boss makes demeaning comments and wants his team to all live in some small town in rural Minnesota. Waiting for next big layoff. How ironic to work for a health insurance company and it's not healthy to work here. When you have team members that purposely leave you out and call it out in a meeting in front of the boss AND he allows it.... definitely something sick and not healthy with that person. Karma!
