I applied and interviewed for a few jobs at UHG and it seemed like the interview went well then all of the sudden all the job statuses said they are moving on with other applicants. I suspect my boss is blocking my job move. Does this happen often?

If your boss didn’t like you, they would want to get rid of you.
Very common. Along with lengthy blackout periods preventing you from moving internally if opportunities present.
Yes it does happens and if you don’t believe it you’re living in a fantasy world.
No, it does not happen often. They will hire a recommendation over someone that did not network if that option is available. There are 100s of candidates for each positing.
Yes, I was repeatedly blocked. I left. I’m making more than double now.
Yes it happens all the time. In fact a recruiter reached out to me and wanted to interview me and pretty much was like don’t do any more interviewing. And asked me to send her the dates and times that I was available to interview. So I sent her my availability and never heard back from her but the way she put it in the email it was like I really had that job. Then a couple weeks later during my 101 the job that I applied for it was said to me that maybe I could cross train in that department (in so many words).
This happened to me as well, every internal
Job req goes into “no longer under consideration” almost immediately. Then today I got laid off, now they’re telling me to try and find a role internally, yeah okay.
where did you move to after UHG?
I have experienced that as well. I interviewed for two positions, and did not get the position both times. I ultimately got fired in December 2021 for not getting vaccinated.
Do yourself a favor. If you have transferable skills, find another position outside of UHG. My salary is now double that of my salary at UHG. Work/life balance is great, I get unlimited PTO, and I have a boss who RESPECTS AND VALUES my contributions and my time. Those jobs and bosses exist…you can thank me later :)
There is no such thing as "internal growth" or "growing your career". If you leave he/she has to find another replacement to keep their grade level.
been here for years - happens all the time
