Many unicorns are in the process of laying off staff as are some of the smaller but promising startups. Major players such as Apple and Google have frozen hiring. This doesn't look good for us. In case we also hit the stage where major layoffs happen, there'll be very few jobs left to apply for and a lot of people applying for them. I can't help but worry.

I hear that! I quit last year and couldn't be happier. My new job pays 30% more and that's the LOW END for their engineers. I hear the technicians are paid much better too. Micron is a life sucking, depression breeding parasite of a company... and that's during the GOOD PROFITABLE times. Just wait till demand for memory drops and Micron has a losing quarter and we'll see how much more miserable Sanjay can make that place. I feel bad for all of you Stockholm Syndrome employees.
There are many good companies still hiring. I don’t see lay-offs. I only see people quitting because they are sick of this place.
