My boss here is constantly giving me contradictory instructions. Perhaps because of some personal animosity but I really don't know what to do about it anymore, how to deal with it. Has anything similar happened to anyone else here? I'm starting to think this might be his tactic to make me leave.

Yup I quit about a week ago for the same reason
It could be that he/she sees you as a threat and is trying to get you to quit, or it could be that their manager sees them as a threat and is giving them conflicting messages that they have to pass on to you. Also, there is a LOT “the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing” lately. This has always been a problem but it’s getting worse the further we get into the post-COVID slump, Clock in, do what you can, clock out, and don’t worry about it. It’s not like they have people lined up to take your place.
He/she sees you as a threat to their position and money.
Classic tactic to demoralize and yes, make you quit.
Stay and have some fun with it.
