What are y’all’s thoughts? It was being “discussed,” which I take was just misdirection to keep people clinging to false hope.

I’ve heard specific rumblings about reviews for employees in high cost locations, I.e. West Coast. And for technical disciplines judged to be more critical for energy transition. Review should run through late summer but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Salary tables seem like they've barely budged in years. 0% chance. Salary tables better move in 2023.

Shell only looks at compensation once a year, the rest of the year it becomes a very taboo topic. If you are hearing rumblings, it's merely a management tactic to hold on to assets, i mean employees, so they don't leave too early. It's in the handbook, just look the JG99 or temp contractors that get dangled "we'll make you permanent full time ASAP" and then say " we just don't have the budget". Take a chance on you and if your gut tells a better offer has come along go.
Study after study has shown that employee who stay with a company, on average, see smaller raises than those who change companies.
I've seen a 57% bump in my pay in 2 years since leaving Shell, while my co-workers who have stayed have seen maybe 1-2%

Unless HR is getting the message that business goals are falling through, or safety is at risk, and good luck getting management to admit that, then they won't "have the data" to justify it. The leading indicators are obvious NOW, but HR has never been proactive about compensation, so they'll likely wait until something terrible happens and react.

If you find something better, don't wait on the hope that Shell maybe does something maybe in a few months. Maybe. Plus, if you leave on your own terms without severance then you aren't banned from returning later.

There's always a chance that management will go out of it's way to demonstrate that they have no idea what they're doing, but...

  • What new information do they have since the last time they did not give you a raise?
  • What would you do with the JG99s? Give them a raise and then let them go?
  • Have you noticed any concern for the attrition (in my org, anyway)?
