Layoffs

Any layoff news? Seems everything has become standstill! Manages cancelled meetings, delayed responses, blah blah blah…

The only rumor I have heard is a few individuals are being let go in operational areas. Supposedly no impact to ESD.

There will be layoffs if someone actually starts to manage the tech portfolio. Millions spent on efforts that have no ROI. What's worse is no one is actually calculating it?? No accountability on leaders. How much has been spent on all the attempted versions of UDP? 3 or 4 VPs in as many years and each one pours more $ into the pit, then they peace out.

I was hired in as a Director and voluntarily ran out the door after only two years. I’ve never seen anything like the insular dysfunctional culture in my 25 years of being a professional. I’ve never seen more senseless meeting with ridiculous numbers of non value add attendees. I’ve never seen paralysis of decision making to the degree it exists at NM. Nobody can make a decision. Nobody will stick their neck out. It’s mind numbing laborious consensus building. And change? Well forget about it, because change is to be feared at NM at all costs. It’s job protectionism at its finest. It’s union rules. It’s laziness. It’s make sure to hide so you don’t stick out. It’s make sure I stay indoors and be seen everyday eating my free lunch with the right people. The whole place needs to be nuked. It’s business culture straight out of 1957. At least I admire Schlifske and his band of executive suck ups for kinda sorta acknowledging the reality. And recognizing that they really do need to ashcan 75% of the lifers at the company of it’s going to have a snowball’s chance in heck of remaining competitive. The few veteran outsiders who do join NM don’t stay for long. It’s a shocking statistic of wretched retention in fact.

Nothing gives off the musty scent of “NM lifer” more than some dude complaining about contractors. It’s a pungent mix of myopia having only worked one place your entire life combined with the palpable fear that you’re just not that marketable outside of NM.

This is to the weird guy writing satire about being a lazy contractor that is overpaid and apparently treated better than FTEs: wouldn't the obvious answer be to convert to a contracting role?

Let's be real, more than half the FTEs are doing what is described below.

I is a contractur. I’m pittying you associates. Wipro, HCl and Infosys rules. I can ill treat you full timers coz you are depend on us contracturs! Got it. I get paid 73k annually haha much more flexibility and overtime and work remote. No need to be in office. I fool NM by asking my daughter to keep fiddling with keyboard and let me know if any emails come up. I have outlook and slack in mobile so I go out for grocery during day time/business hours so that I can spend more time with family.
Do you full timers have ba$$s to do that hahahaha

Why are threads being deleted? Do they get deleted if someone responds with a name or are the NYC “Privileged” on the hunt?

Look, I don’t know any of these people, but can you quit it with the “policyholder dollars” appeal. It’s not a coincidence that everyone I’ve heard say this tends to be a total waste of space. In fact, anytime I hear “policyholder dollars” I immediately know you are a bottom feeding virtue signaler.

oh my … jealousy isn’t a good look, especially on trolls who have oodles of free time to spend propagating arbitrary slander. Take your red staplers and resume pretending to add value / seeking relevancy.

God forbid anyone try to build a culture or do anything fun at this company. Maybe we can just limit posts to things that overweight boomers really like: parking complaints, when and where we have pizza, and posts about being happy to be back in the office that gets 2 likes.

No layoffs, but my division has instituted a hiring freeze unless you have a VP approval.
