Thread regarding Marathon Petroleum layoffs

Marathon seems to be the one getting laid off now

Regular stream of people leaving but not being replaced. Number of open jobs keeps creeping up and not being filled. A lot of of people out west are leaving since marathon will not stop with their good ole boy antics and nepotism. Seems like findlay is a little immune from the exodus probably because there is nowhere else to go.

You’re absolutely right that it is another RIF, just a voluntary one. Hiring cannot keep up. Management is MIA.

Having worked at mpc I feel true pity for anyone who is stuck there. That place was the absolute worst and most toxic petty culture I have ever encountered. At least they have trans bathrooms in Findlay

Time to move the entire MPC operation to Houston and leave all the complainers/losers in Findlay. Much oil & gas talent in the great state of Texas. Those left behind can work at Wilson or Arby's.

“Your types” “those people” “you people” are all common phrases I hear frequently at MPC.

In fairness there's a lot to complain about. If they got rid of the complainers they would have management and like eight employees left.

If working at MPC is "rotten to the core", please resign today - do not need your types complaining and making life miserable for us that want to work at MPC.

Hilarious that “better than poverty and starving” is the best selling point for choosing to work at MPC.

Wow this Culture is rotten to the core.

It's $3,000 for engineers and $1,500 for truck drivers in my area. Even though MPC is not the best place to work, especially compared to some of their peers, it is still better than 80% of the companies out there. People who think that MPC is the worst place to work have clearly little to no experience outside of their bubble. Although things seems to be shifting towards making employees happy, the vast majority of people in American are financially illiterate and live paycheck to paycheck and simply cannot afford to be part of the new wave of people who work in paradise. Most of use will not be able to take care of our responsibilities without a paycheck. All that being said, the majority of companies are not as good as MPC. Unfortunately for me, I came from one of the better companies and do feel the pain.

IT department sent an email out today to their employees, they are starting a bounty program to have current MPC employees refer friends to open positions. If you refer someone who is hired to fill an open position you can get a minimum payout of $1500 if terms are met.

It sounds like a good way to lose friends. I would never submit my friends to such treatment.
