Dealing with a micromanager

The fact that my manager intervenes too often in my activities bothers and frustrates me because he doesn't do it to persuade me to do better, but he is actually trying to find a mistake in my work to demotivate me. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm the only one with a manager like this. Does your manager control and monitor everything you do?

My manager likes to wipe my buttocks for me, but I don’t think he is a micromanager I just think he has the courage to care.

Best advise is don't let a bad micro manager see they can upset you. [remember never argue w/ an id--t] When its hard always show your best poker face. I know its impossible to believe but I have seen a couple good managers here. You'll know one when they help make the job go smoother. They'll show employees helpful tricks and a good one will simplify the complicated.

Worst incident I ever heard (from a 1st hand reliable source) was of a terrible manager (EA) who was also a chronic fault finder. When bigger projects were to be done his employees would do it his way, then re-do it again so it would work. He never cared that his guys had to work twice as hard bcuz of him. Yet he always over criticized & bad mouthed everyone else. Anyway finally something big went wrong one day and he showed up, listened to what his guys said needed to be done, came up w/ his own plan like he always did. This time his guys just did what he said, and then made him make every decision instead of repeating their regular routine. They werent gonna bail him out this time. This time after more than a week the director had to fly in, see the problem, took the manager away from that location, and the problem was fixed that day by those same employees but w/o that manager there. That manager finally quit UP on his own. Worst part is that manager was turned into the hotline several times and even his peers knew he only made things worse, but no one above him ever listened to the agreement employees pleas.

Had 1 like that a few years ago. Did everything exactly the way he asked. It was hilarious watching his a-s get chewed everyday for months on end. I'd even make him write down a list for me in order of preference. Then slowly work down the list. It was great.
