I just hope that the behavior of my manager in the last few days does not indicate that there will be layoffs soon. Does anyone have any insight?

Maybe your mgr had one too many at happy hour, ran down a couple nuns he thought were penguins, and this AM discovered habit material entangled in fresh front end damage on his Prius.

If you notice a new person invited to your usual 1:1 with your manager, it’s probably a layoff
Maybe your manager is quitting and isn’t letting you know yet.
If you get asked into a 15min call and it starts by the manager saying that this is not an ordinary phone call but s/he has unpleasant news to share, just hang up.

Leaving or already left? I know of a couple that are already gone. I think everyone is nervous.
