Quitting without a job lined up

Many times I wished to quit here even though I had no other job lined up, but of course I would never do that. I've been here for a few years and for a long time I didn't know anyone who's done that, but it's starting to happen. A few months back, a few people decided to make such a move rather than stay here. Isn't that a little risky, even though everyone is saying that it's never been easier to find a new job?

Risky? I would say that is re--rded. If you are to that point of quitting, then take a step back and reduce the workload... let the stuff pile up, let them complain, at this point who cares? If anything you will be in the next list and get a package. If they fire you, then get unemployment benefits as you hunt for a job. I bet no one will fire you, since replacing a person that is already overloaded would be very very difficult. Someone new would take months to get at 50% of where you are. Working hard gets rewarded with more work. Find your balance and slow down, use 1 hour a day to job hunt and prep for interviews.

How do you navigate stand-ups if you don't do any work?

Why quit when you can rest and vest? Spend your time between meetings interviewing/prepping.

Yes, it's risky. Don't jump ship without a plan.

Risky, compared to what?

Imagine this situation: you stay at Citrix in the hope that you can make it through yet another layoff, only this time you're on the next list with dozens of other Ex-Citrix employees that have the same story to tell -- The ELT mismanaged the transition to cloud subscriptions, Workspace had numerous UI latency issues, customers were constantly complaining about poor service, blah blah blah...

So, what did you do? You stayed, regardless.
Now, that's what I call risky. Personally, I would never do that.
