Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Anyone that volunteers for this Rail Relief effort is the biggest fool that ever lived.

Let this company live with its mistakes. Let them hire more managers and van drivers. This isn’t goodwill.

Yep I’m just adding to the network congestion. What you gonna do about but get mad? Nothing.

They probably figured your a-s was desensitized because you never get up off of it

My rail relief driver touched my buttocks but I think it was an accident. Either way thanks for picking me up.

Many if not most in the 'crystal palace; fear that tap on the shoulder and the final escorted walk out the door in the name of PSR profits. So in an effort to stave that off and appear to be the 'super team player' they want, you jump up and down and raise your hand when they ask for 'volunteers' to drive crews around.

Problem is, in that time period that you're gone they'll likely figure out they can live without you and you've just made the next list of cuts.

I will say that every 'Rail Relief' driver I've ever had absolutely despises what UP has become.

I volunteered to be a driver and then I was laid off.

Yeah since I’m a salary employee and I only work eight hours driving five days a week I’m making an average of $172 an hour. Granted I have to deal with mind numbing conversation if you want to call it conversation. I am spending a lot of money on febreeze and Lysol refreshing the vehicle after every crew change.

As long as they’re still paying me $85,000 a year i’ll keep driving cruise around. It’s only a new hour shift.

At ‘Just Trying To Understand’, not much makes sense at UP. You’ll be doing mental gymnastics all day if you try to make sense of the decisions that are made at UP.

Correct. Managers are just driving crews around all day and now they’d like you to volunteer so they don’t have to pay someone $8 an hour

That’s all a majority of the managers are, glorified taxi drivers

Can someone clarify this for me? (sorry I work in signal) PSR cut van drivers. Now managers who prob make six figures are now driving the vans? So PSR caused the cost of van drivers to increase?

Why? What’s the difference in doing this or any other job for the company? Any job you do is helping the company make money.
