Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

UP safety and monitoring initiatives

I’ve been a manager at Union Pacific for over 20 years. I started out in MOW on the agreement side so I actually know what it means to work and improve yourself.

I’m glad to see that people are starting to wake up on this site when it comes to Union shop entitled attitudes and unwillingness to engage with the work, and stay focused on safety.

Leadership has tried to empower agreement employees to have courage to care and create a total safety culture,

Unfortunately you have failed your mission so now get ready. The locomotive cameras and stationary cameras are going to be monitored in real time by personal remotely. The data has been procured to analyze train handling for non-PTC yard movements. The algorithm will be able to call up any unsafe terrain handling and secure the video that corresponds. once reviewed you will receive your discipline notice electronically unless it’s a termination event

There is a lawsuit getting ready to go before the Supreme Court where you’re not going to be able to make a claims for slips trips and falls on railroad company property. You can use your own premium health insurance instead of asking stakeholders to pay for your bogus claims (The Supreme Court is set to hear a case that could impact the outcome of future employee slip-and-fall cases in rail yards. Next week, justices are scheduled to hear the case of LeDure vs. Union Pacific Railroad Company.) Google it.

The vehicle cameras weren’t running and recording all the time. They had to be triggered the way you are. . It’s a different store with the locomotives and the stationary cameras. They’ll be keeping an eye on you

Well if they want to watch all employees and scrutinize every move they make the company better get their Costco cards out because they are about to get di-k in bulk. I’ll wander around aimlessly for 12 hours following every rule and take my 500 dollars and smile.

They removed the camera in Up vehicles. The accident rate and driving habits of people did not improve with cameras in the vehicles. It saved about $200,000 per month. Psr meant bye bye cameras.

Lol my previous manager was the one from our work group who went out and
“fell down”. Happened minutes after his boss called him, told him he flew in unannounced, and need to talk with him. This ‘clumsy’ manager had just lets say, made a series of terrible errors in judgement.

Well there you have it folks. Every adversarial stereotype of management completely confirmed beyond a shadow of a doubt. Not that there was any doubt to begin with. Maybe some day the PSR business model will be a case study in business school. A house divided against itself can not stand.

Hey Mr/he/him/she/her/it/freak /weirdo/cr------d/ or whatever you are 20 year manager, NO ONE CARES! I'm glad you took the time to come on here and told us something they've been doing already. Are these the same cameras they had in the company vehicles, that are no longer there? Can you tell us why those are no longer there? Here's the biggest thing! Folks don't care anymore. Thank you for getting on here and solidifying why managers are hated and shouldn't be trusted.

Im sure that more surveillance will yield more production in the yards! As an esteemed manager, I'm sure you follow all rules and regulations to a t.
And you're right, hazardous worksites don't contribute to employee injury! Duh! Its employee behavior! That's why we can never have enough employee surveillance. So glad we have leaders like you who preach the company's position on these critical issues. Our families thank you for keeping us safe! God bless you!

They need to implement an attendance policy similar to BNSF. The stock would definitely go up.

You seriously don’t believe they’re going to monitor you remotely ? Poor Safety and the ridiculous agreement demands are the only thing holding this company back

Please explain how a te&y employee could go back to college while enduring the grueling schedule and inhumane attendance policy. Most of us can’t even make it to drs appointments without fear of being fired. You advice is no good here.
