Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

TEY shortage

Any chance they’re going to have select managers return to train service like they did in the 80s ?

I can’t wait till all the ExCons get here… they’ll be working circles around the entitled “professionals “.. I would definitely make as many Yardmaster‘s as I could out of them

LOL someone had to plug the Tucson 'super' during his RCL check ride, he was gonna mow down the red flag.

This same fella cracks the whip on switch crews yet has NO IDEA how to switch cars.

I would love to see some of these du-----k managers run a train or switch a cut. They can barely keep up when doing an RCL ride.

They used office people and train mgrs to run trains on Canadian National rr , after trying to recover from their psr cutbacks. Not too many years ago.

Actually it was 1991 for a short period of time during the strike before Congress and President Bush sent everybody back to work.

I remember reading about that in Canada. Read from a first hand account about a non agreement office employee who was forced to get some quick training and then be an engineer. I think that story also mentioned some of his runs were solo, no conductor.

Not sure about UP but It happened on the Canadian railroads under hunter for sure lol. And UP is copying him so why not. It wasn’t just conductor/engineer certified manager’s on the Canadian railroads. They were pulling people from office jobs and forcing them to take trains after some forced training..
