it looks like new layoffs are happening after Ramadan

Perhaps the required layoffs for the year exceeds current expat numbers, so they need to hire more for subsequent layoffs.
Got to meet those KPIs
I don't think so, several colleagues call me asking about Aramco, looks like they need to cover 80 positions during next 3 months. You are safe so far.
Well I’m still hiring expats into my team and we just cannot get the staff! The Aramco financial package is ok, but not amazing…and it’s a VERY competitive market. It’s been months and running out of options. We’ll just end up with more goons from BCG and Bain et al….
No more layoffs, recruitment is being so hard and attrition plus retirement so high that management understand past layoff strategic was not well implemented. Production target is now a huge challenge and alas they cant squeeze locals as with expats.
Future expat annual PMP reviews.
Your work efforts for last year was excellent. We are giving you an M and have been placed at number 15 on this years layoff list. As we anticipate only 12 layoff requirements for the department this year, your chances are good for making a higher placement in next years list.
Keep up the good work and thank you for your service
Getting an M is a sure sign that you have a place on that year's layoff list.
Puff I was layoff with E and with outstanding deliveries, doesn't matter, biggest company in the world is managed like a small business unit.
They are giving M rating to most expats and kick them out based on "performance". If you got M this year the better start looking for a job.
I doubt about that, departments are in high need of personnel, hiring fairs and recruitment agencies are looking worldwide so layoffs are less likely.
Again attrition is the real deal and with the vacation season ready there is no enough people to cover.
layoffs will happen this june school break already started
I have no doubt the saudis will re hire expats again, over the last few years they have been loosing control of the operation and with messes like aviation, compliance etc., they will have to bring in people who know what they are doing to clean up the mess, which is now clearly visible internationally. There are so many saudis who can also do this, but like western expats, they have no wasta. Im afraid to say, in declining markets they will not have the skills to survive without knowledge, which will not come from the current leadership team. I wish KSA well but I dont see Aramco being sustained in years to come.
There also have been layoffs during previous Ramadans.
At least the rumour is true as a few have come up with it straight - what i wonder is the magnitude of the layoff - but at the end who cares the whole thing is crumbling - it will happen in june good luck
If you want to know about expat layoffs, watch the number of teachers being released during the summer break. Keep close track of the expats working in the Dhahran Schools. At least you can get an approximate “heads up” on outsourcing of expat functions. I used to worry about layoffs every time I went on leave.
Speaking of 'burn out'...I always felt that I earned my pay by putting up with all the governmental, company and departmental bureaucratic dictates rather than real
hardcore E&P. What say all you others?
Oh true, two colleagues in my department quits last week. Attrition index will be high this month but we received one guy. So wheel still running only people feels some burnt out.
Actually, that's not the case, this year Ramadan ends in May which is another common date for resignation, two months notice, May and June, which fit with School end and summer holidays. Big layoffs will be next year in accordance with ELP if nothing else is revised in advance, that program has been corrupted and now good people can be target as well as we saw in past layoffs
