What exactly is vista buying? With the level of attrition and the number of DEs and senior respected people leaving who is going to be left to do actual work?
I get it if the pan is ride a long legacy tail forever but why would customers hang around long enough to make that tail worthwhile.
Something makes no sense. I don’t think vista was expecting this level of attrition. Maybe with a tax cheat billionaire as its head they lost touch with how actual people operate?
so what I meant to say in my previous reply is why would they worry about people jumping ship if they believe they can replace the entire engineering structure without affecting productivity nor quality.
the non engineers in charge have the Rizwan approach to software engineers: each one is just a brick in a wall and can easily be replaced by another. we're basically treated all the same, and there's hordes who want to work for a US company overseas or H1B to the states at any cost...
Feels understaffed to me. Coworkers quit and then their stories/tickets get reassigned to the remaining team members.
The quality of Citrix engineering and overall product development has been in decline for years. Losing engineers isn't really that massive of a short term problem.
There's a whole new crop of offshore engineers to can mangle developing and sustaining software just as easily as the crops of guys who have mangling it the last few years.
They are not stupid and they have done this many times. Everything is going to plan. Expenses are low (people leaving) and bookings are up. They stated many times that developers are like chicken. All tastes the same. Their actions speak louder than their words. Cutting equity was the exact opposite of retention.
