The final announcement was made today April 20, 2022. We as employees knew it was coming but just didn’t know when. With our Carlsbad ca pharmacy facility being placed on probation from the state of California we no longer know what to expect. We had a meeting today around noon and the announcement was made that Carlsbad OptumRx will finally shut the lights off on June 20. Packets were passed around and read “ I am saddened to share that in connection with the end of our real estate lease at the OptumRx facility in Carlsbad your employment at 2858 in Loker Ave., East Carlsbad California is anticipated to terminate on June 20, 2022. As we continue integrating pharmacy care services to support patients and our customers at existing and updated facilities the conclusion of our on-site operations at the Carlsbad location is expected to be permanent. Based on the needs of the business you may be released from performing duties prior to June 20, 2022 if you are released on an earlier day it will continue to receive your pay and benefits until your termination date. I want to thank you for your contributions to the people we serve sincerely Kirk Nelson vice President operations. “

I use to work there many years ago, in a few months of my stay in Optum RX, I quickly found my place in the Automation Maintenance hierarchy, favoritism is at best in that department. I left for a better place were my skills was recognized and appreciated.

One of the best places I have had the privilege to work for! The news is very sad, but the team is actively trying to assist the employees with redeployment to other sites, and even offering relocation money if the staff member wants to go that route. Things happen in big business that we cannot control. I am just grateful for the time I had and the relationships I have made. Love everyone and best wishes to us all!

I got fired from Optum Carlsbad in January. Best thing that could’ve happened to me! That place was a prison. My supervisor was a joke and so was the management team. I’m so much better off now that I don’t work for that prison. Really sad that Carlsbad is closing and the ppl who weren’t laid off now will be unemployed.

Leaders worked at Target lol…..alot different than highly regulated Rx
