When an email I receive from a manager contains a whole slew of spelling and grammar mistakes, then you know something is wrong in the promotion process. This person is supposed to represent us when he corresponds with people outside of the company, customers included. Can you imagine what kind of picture he is painting of Citrix?

The ELT promoted the Sr Manager of Content Marketing to a Director. She doesn't know how to produce content herself. Everything is outsourced to agencies. Enough said...

This is a problem that extends beyond Citrix alone. The business world (and many other sectors of society, unfortunately) is full of people who cannot master communications.
I'm not going to go into examples as it will rile me for the day. Nor will I go into how to solve it - take too long and no one cares.
I will say though that in many cases the language of communication is not native to the communicator... these people do get a pass :-)
