Ten years ago, TDC might have been worth something to a company that could transform the dinosaur. No more.
Oracle or IBM
Radio Shack
Maybe Burroughs, Univac, NCR, CDC, Honeywell :)
or Digital, Compaq, Prime, Sequent, ....
NCR! LOL! LOVE THAT!
NO ONE! If TD had an impressive client list, maybe, but what would a company like AWS or any others want from this old goat? The ELT has definitely driven it into the ground.
AWS+DWH+innovative don't fit in the same sentence.
Redshift is still the old appliance architecture acquired and hacked for the cloud a decade ago.
Having missed the opportunity to acquire SF it could actually make sense for AWS to get TD and hack it to be more cloud friendly.
NCR
Micro Focus
LOL. Why would anyone buy TDC? Legacy, on-prem database bolted onto the cloud. Their only cloud revenue comes from existing customers migrating existing apps to the cloud as a first step to getting off Teradata. They do not report new customer wins on earnings calls since it would be embarrassing. Maybe a PE vulture firm who will buy at a discount and milk the cash flow for a few final years, but no innovative leader like AWS, Microsoft, Google, or Snowflake would touch it with a 10 foot pole. TDC is shrinking employees and barely maintaining flat revenue. What a depressing mess...
