Don't settle into staying at Staples when there are so many options right now. I know a lot of people are reluctant to leave since they don't know if their situation will improve in the long run, but honestly, how much worse can it get than here? We are underpaid and overworked and never recognized for the great work we do. I think the risk of uncertainty is worth it just to leave this place.

People return to post because they are the people who loved the company, worked tirelessly for the company and built the company and were thrown away when they no longer were part of leader clique which has been a revolving door for years. The ones that return are not the ones that needed to be let go, they could careless and have gone on to do something else. If we post it’s to tell our Staples family that the grass can be greener, you can be appreciated and be compensated better somewhere else and if history repeats itself which it has continued to repeat. There will be a sales and marketing layoff that will impact all levels and those at the top are getting their stories straight to make it happen. They will let go higher paid older associates and justify that it’s for a business reason. It’s coming. I remain connected even though greener pastures called.
I find it odd to constantly see post from former employees saying how great it is they left. Why are you still visiting this site if you are so happy with your life and new job? Move on already, let Staples go. Some of us stay because we have tons of flexibility with our personal time, get paid well, are close to retirement, and really don't feel like proving ourselves all over again at a new place.
Google "Over 70% of Workers Regret Quitting Jobs During the 'Great Resignation'. Buyer's remorse is real so leave those of us who choose to stay alone. We know what we are doing.
I was laid off last November during the week before Thanksgiving. Although the timing could have been better, it was an immediate improvement in my quality of life, as it allowed me the opportunity to escape all the dishonesty from management, negativity, gaslighting, and the other soul sucking behaviors that I was subjected to on a daily basis that left me feeling dead inside. Fortunately, the job market was and is still very strong. I landed a new position within 60 days and I actually had more than one job offer to choose from. I also was fortunate to obtain a new corporate sales role that pays considerably more and has much better benefits. So, clearly there are significantly better options out there. If I can do it, so can other people. I believe there is something better out there for anyone who wants to seek it outside of Staples. It may be a process that takes a bit of strategy and some work, but it’s definitely achievable.
I want to send them a thank you note for laying me off . I am a person again in a wonderful company . They are out there !
It's really sad to see what greed has done to Staples. What was once a great company with a lot of respected leaders is now just a hollow shell. They have lost great customers because of ignorance and I'm not sure why that doesn't seem to matter to them... Aren't customers and their business the reasons why companies exist? Maybe that is the reason they are just a hollow shell. Sad, sad, sad
A strange culture. Layoffs and disrespect is normal in this company. Now top leaders are praising and recognizing workers in the same areas that have been hit hardest by layoffs and reorganization. It isn’t genuine. And it won’t last long.
Agreed! Gave my resignation and feeling very empowered. I'm tired of hoping for the next RIF.. life's too short! The toxic environment and lack of direction from the SLT is ki----g us all. Words from the famous poet Jon Bon Jovi.. It's my life
It's now or never But I ain't gonna live forever! :-)
Best wishes to all of you sticking it out. I truly wish you happiness and peace. I'm out!!
I have witnessed people who a few years ago could barely tie their shoes be promoted to director and vp level to push paper and keep the lights on. Successful and innovative companies do not behave this way. The best move for your career is out. Working for Staples does not offer the exit opportunities that it used to; best to leave before the exit opportunities are zero.
I agree and I wish I had left before I was laid off. I worked hard and thought I was a valued employee but discovered I was just a number. Yes it’s always possible to jump ship and find other companies that have their share of problems. But there are other companies out there that are amazing. Some people, like the previous stupid post office comment, are just negative. Do what is best for you. Life is too short to be miserable.
I did just that . I left 48 years ago and am I glad I did . I am now working for the US Postal Service . Things are exciting every day. And every now and then, we get a new stamp.
