Thread regarding ION Geophysical Corp. layoffs

Job hunting

Anyone with talent is long gone. I stayed here because of my age, I am no longer very marketable. Those trying to leave now, what are the experiences? How hard is it to get an offer with ION on resume?

I have provided links to four current job postings for seismic geophysicists that should be a good fit for employees at Ion. Don't say that Warren does not care about you - only the id--ts who criticize me out of total ignorance. I have even more, but you should be able to find them on your own.

The best advice is just don’t take any from Warren Buffett , 7 years trying to dupe someone into hiring him hasn’t worked

I left voluntarily about 2 years ago, though it did take some time job hunting. My role wasn’t specific to seismic, however. I can’t imagine there would be anything negative about having ION on a resume. People leave jobs for all sorts of reasons, and stay at jobs for all sorts as well.

Think of a good answer to the interviewer’s question, “the industry and company have been a shambles for the better part of a decade, so why did you stay?”

Really, in the back of their mind, they’re thinking, “this person really doesn’t have much initiative and was willing to boil to death like the proverbial frog in a miserable setting. Why would we ever want to hire them here?”

Here are a couple of leads. CGG and Exxon (Spring, Texas) are looking for seismic data processing geophysicists. Good luck.
