I always see the numbers floated out there for 100% PIR, and that hypothetically one can make 120% PIR of their JG…. but does anyone ever actually make that much? If so, how long did it take you to get to 100%? I know folks that have been in their JG for years without making 100% PIR. I’m starting to feel like it’s a mythical carrot they dangle in front of our eyes…

Anyone know the salary levels of JG4 in London currently? Is it worth relocating there?
What is the current PIR for JG4?
I worked for shell for 20 years and was at 125% PIR for 15 years as a grade 4. As they raised the ranges, i would get a 5 percent raise to bring me up to 125% again.
I was 110% of PIR as a JG 3. After reshape. I left.
112% here, but the PIR 100% target has not changed in a few years.
It definitely happens where you eventually reach and exceed the 100% PIR value, but as others have noted, your annual raises are dramatically reduced on a percentage increase basis as you exceed 100% and approach 110%. Remember, in most years the 100% value shifts up a couple thousand bucks, so the carrot moves to the right a little bit. So, someone at 110% may stay at that percentage for years with the actual $$$ take home increasing by 1% to 2%. The real challenge currently is HR is missing the boat on their benchmarking, so the pay bands are not an accurate reflection of “market” pay for years of experience right now. Either you interview at other shops and see if you can learn of an accurate salary range yourself from a competing company, or wait for enough additional people to leave Shell that HR will scramble to revisit their benchmarking study and magically shift up the 100% PIR by 10% where it should be to reflect the long-term inflationary environment that is 2022.
JG4 here and 93% of PIR. And raises are still meager
108% here
I'm JG 1 and have been about 115% of PIR for years. Agree with others that annual raises are meager once you get in that situation.
I think the high PIRs are often people stuck in their JG for a long time.
The bigger problem is the lack of promotions. People going on 8 years without a promotion despite good performance. The responsibility has kept getting pushed down.
My colleague (and friend) has been above 106 % for last at least 10 years... his raise is tiny, even 0 at times.. JG-3 P&T. Never been promoted. he is not that keen on becoming JG-2 either as he thinks its 20% more pay with 50% more responsibility.. he is just patiently waiting to reach 80 points...
Well that’s… interesting. I’ve been 4 years in JG and I’m 86% PIR. Thank you all for the information. Very helpful.
I am currently above 100% and have been for most of my career. At one point I was at 114%. It's not a good thing because it means your raises are small.
Yup, 100% is doable - that's what I'm on
Asked my manager, he shared the range with me (while keeping it anonymous). Yes people do make that much.
in their JG for years without making 100% PIR. I’m starting to feel like it’s a mythical carrot they dangle in front of our eyes…
That's the thing I don't get about Shell. Why don't they actively promote, give out raises to keep talent. If people are not performing, fire them. Such a strange place.
I got hired at 100% ... you didn't ? I think you are being taken advantage off ...... Collect evidence (start with this post) and get a lawyer would be my advice .....
I’m currently at 107% PIR and was rewarded with a 0% raise this year.
I recently joined Shell and according to the stats I'm 106% of PIR. Workday also recently went away from PIR and now shows the low end to high end of the salary band within my JG
It can most definitely be mythically carrot. The 100% is something of a floating target for Shell. Because of how they do the yearly ranking, it's quite possible to be there years and never reach 100% or even 90%. That there lies the frustration of many shell employees, you can bust your a-s off, meet all your personal objectives but if your line leader doesn't have your back come time to rank, you'll never move up the PIR scale. I've only known one person to be at the 100% mark. most were 85-90% and never really moved despite reliable good workers.
