Thread regarding Northwestern Mutual layoffs

You thought the past three years were bad for tech, just wait...

NM not only managed to oust the only effective tech leader we've had in the 15 years I've been here, but they now intentionally break it up to a similar dysfunctional structure we only recently crawled ourselves out of.

NM is the home of "repeat what hasn't worked in the past" and just slap a new name on it. Ctrl-F, elevating "start-up" CTOs, and splitting up tech? SLT has been around long enough to know those have all failed miserably before, but hey, let's do it again!

I actually truly started to believe our mission around making MKE a tech hub, but despite a few glimmers of hope, we consistently demonstrate that we can't even make NM a tech hub.

I guess I should just be happy that I'm still part of the "technology" team and not exiled to CX land. I'm truly counting down to my retirement...

He was a great leader knew tech and aligned a lot of groups in a sensible way. I dont think you know anything about the tech org or what it means to lead one.

Sorry don't agree. He was horrible. Can't even publicly speak without saying ah ah ah ah. Poor leader and so are many of the others in IT. Clean house. What have the really accomplished? Nadda except enhancing their own careers.
