Thread regarding Raymond James Financial Inc. layoffs

Anyone still at RJ in the IT area care to comment?

It would be nice to hear other sides of how things are at RJ? I have been gone nearly a year and those I still talk to are negative on everything. Can anyone give some honest insight as to how good or bad things are?

My life has been so much more stable after leaving RJ. I don't even look over my shoulders anymore as I did at RJ.

It's Raymond James, they are not a company that prides on keeping their people. It's all about profits, it always has been. Kinda what they did in 2020 laying people off during a global pandemic saying it's cause of budget, then having record breaking numbers.

A good Organization will always find ways to keep their people and make budget cuts to keep people, Raymond James is not that company.

The executives here in IT are so detached from reality, compared to my last firm. I've been here almost 1 year and I make way more money than all my peers. There is so much chaos in my team that I just sit back and laugh. I would say to any candidates, you can negotiate hard and get great money here because they are desperate to hire.

Funny, I remember that video and remember thinking the same thing. Yeah I'm in IT, been here 4 years. I'm not actively looking, but a few friends from other companies approached me and I'm definitely listening. I figure I've got a few years before there's another layoff, which I'm sure will happen. I'm not being overworked, so I may stick around a year or 2 more unless I find something just right. A lot of people I know (in IT) are acting similar. A few just pulled the trigger, but a lot are listening.

In October last year Paul said in the Town Hall video, "we've hired a thousand people in the last year and we're hiring a thousand more in the coming year". Given that it was the year anniversary of the layoff, I thought it was kind of classless. I guess money can't buy class. But it made me realize we're human capital. Invest in only what you have to and if you can replace it with a cheaper version, go ahead. There are lots of offshore Indian and Russian contractors. I've been in IT 25+ years. I'm just keeping my head down waiting to hit retirement. Most of the people in my sphere are thinking the same thing.
