Thread regarding VMware layoffs

should I join VMWare India at this juncture?

I cleared my interviews and my candidature is finalized by the VMware team. But they have not released the offer letter yet. Only the or-l confirmation. I have 13+ years of experience in my Previous company and a stable work so far but compensation is not good in current company. VMware package is better compared to the current one - but due to this Broadcom takeover there are rumours that they will freeze or revoke offers. But if given the offer, is it a good choice to join ?

definately NO in this situation. There are job cuts to trim head count from 38K to 15K approx.

Don’t push your luck. You’re one of the lucky ones, just like Nicolas Cage inthe movie Next 😬

If you have no other offer then join VMware and spend the next 6 months looking for a better job while waiting to be laid off.

I would not join if I were you. There is way too much uncertainty and even if you do join you’re going to be worrying about what will happen next. Plus your team is going to be busy looking out for themselves and your family experience will likely be terrible. With less than a year of experience you will get no severance and may also be first on the chopping block given your tenure.
