Many have closed but the final 48 in this batch close on the 23rd. I wonder if they will liquidate another batch shortly after these are closed as stock must be running out in the remaining warehouses.
From what I can find that leaves 90 Hometown Stores open. Maybe there are more as this seems low but those are the ones on Facebook and it seems corporate run a page for every store. There are a few other small format stores still open also.
Has anybody kept up with the closing announcements? It's inevitably going to be zero stores with the Sears name, but it is interesting the closures temporarily ground to a halt with 175 or so stores remaining open. Did these stores find some alternate source of merchandise? I can't see how keeping the Sears name would be an advantage for these franchise owners. They'd have constant headaches dealing with people coming in looking for parts/service warranty replacement etc. on products purchased at the large stores.
