WHY is VMW still actively hiring???

I see VMware is still actively recruiting people on LinkedIn. When management knows there will be massive consolidation ahead why are they still hiring people?

A lot of people are going to leave their current jobs join VMW and then end up being unemployed. This is irresponsible in my opinion and seriously pi---s me off.

When it is known that there is imminent restructuring on a massive scale bringing new people into the mix that may not know all the details is frankly disingenuous and not ethical.

Afaik hiring is not on freeze, actually in some regions HR is actively looking for new positions to replace people who left before the acquisition or the rumours, so they need to fill those.

I asked this internally and I was told hiring is not on freeze yet, but it will after 40 days (go-shop period), so it's expected to fill the vacant positions, on the other hand the candidates should be aware of what's in store for them in the coming months

Those ads are paid for and have a life cycle. Those jobs are not available. VMware has a hiring freeze and an internal movement freeze.

These Bcom stuff were all recent developments and it takes time to react. Also no sane person will join vmware now, if they give high stock & salary as it all useless.

There will be exodus of very good people (only they can get jobs in this environment), mass layoffs (as some one mentioned 20k+), remaining, few good groups will be spun out to various companies (cheaply).
