A bunch of numbers have been thrown around. Anywhere from 6 months to a year. I assume the 40 day go to shop period might add some time? How rapidly does this company jump into cutting staff? As in do they start chopping the first day after close.

It was truly shocking and impressive how quickly they dismantled CA (14,000). The company is incredibly efficient in everything they do which is reflected in the stock price.
if conversations have already started you're saying there is a chance we'll get advance notice before closing? when are employees going to be notified? and is it a 90 day notice?
Broadcon guy here. Cuts happening as soon as deal closes. I GUARANTEE you the conversations of where to cut have started. We move fast…no time to waste. We need our shares up in price for our next vest…. We are ruthless, we don’t care about people. People are a LIABILITY…. Heck, CUSTOMERS ARE A LIABILITY! WELCOME TO HOCK’s World…
If you are in the US it will be November. In countries with proper labor laws it will be later, but probably not much later - a good workers council will get you improved compensation but not save your job and Hock cares nothing for how much it costs. Broadcom does not hang about. It'll be all done and dusted by next summer.
Regarding: Do the majority of people looking for advice ask you questions? Or are you usually one of those asking the questions?
How will Broadcom know the above? Only the direct managers have some opinion.
When Brocade was acquired supposedly it took year and a half due to some regulatory snafus. This may likely happen and cause delays so my guess would be mid to late 2023
wait 40 days to see if someone else puts another bid in for vmware during the go-shop. unlikely anyone is interested especially after the poor q1 for vmware, no one is going to think vmware is worth more than $60B. after 40 days, broadcom has vmware. if the deal meets regulatory approval, it will probably take 9-12 months to close the acquisition. you have time to hunt for a new job, and takes lots of vacation along the way. there will be no one working hard at vmware, everyone will be checked out. the recruiters will be raiding vmware the next few months with lucrative offers to take people out of the company.
mid 2023 would be my guess given the size and complexity of the merger...
Don’t freak yourself out. We were told could be late 2023.
Yeah, if you delay by a single day in doing your own shopping around... you may be sorry for it. I'd say they should be reaching out to "key employees" soon with specific deals. For sure if you don't get one of those you should be looking. (And you probably already know if you're a key employee. If not... Ask yourself -- Do the majority of people looking for advice ask you questions? Or are you usually one of those asking the questions?)
From what I know we have only until November. They start to cut people off immediately after deal Is finalized. Considering possible recession, I started to send my resumes out today. I would suggest anyone who can’t afford to take a break do the same . It seems we have 15-20 % chances to stay .
